Message from the Dean

The Gainesville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists graciously welcomes you to this website, where we hope that you will find useful information about our chapter and its offerings through the 2018-2019 season. For additional information about membership and materials, contact Registrar/Treasurer Stephanie Smith (mornsun381@gmail.com). To reach our chapter members about an upcoming event, or for program ideas, contact Sub-Dean Laura Ellis (lellis@arts.ufl.edu).

The American Guild of Organists (AGO) is the national professional association serving the organ and choral music fields, and its mission is ‘to foster a thriving community of musicians who share their knowledge and inspire passion for the organ,’ with a particular vision ‘to engage, support, and uplift every organist.’ To these ends, your AGO board has been hard at work, meeting and planning events for the coming months. In particular, this season our chapter will travel to areas surrounding Gainesville, where some of our members live and work. Current plans include an organ crawl in Lake City in October, and dinner together/attending a concert in Ocala in March. These are in addition to our events here in town, where we will gather throughout the season at various venues for concerts, food, and fellowship.

We hope to see you at these events, as well as many other opportunities that can be found here on our website.  In addition, events from outside of our chapter at churches and the University of Florida  will be listed as well.  There is plenty to musically see and do in Gainesville…come out, bring a guest, and even better, bring a potential new AGO member!
