Exploring the E.M. Skinner Organ at Old Cabell Hall

AGO members will be able to hear the history and play this Skinner instrument, Opus 127, 1906, donated to UVA by Andrew Carnegie.  Restored in 1983 and in 1990, it remains irreplaceable and historical.  A second part of this program will investigate the UVA music library with Winston Barham, Music Collections Librarian and Manager, followed by lunch on the Corner.

Bach Around the Clock represents a community partnership to celebrate Bach’s magnificent music.  On this Saturday after Bach’s birthday, from 9 am until 9 pm, both passionate amateurs and polished professionals will perform.  Our Chapter members will participate by providing organ selections for a portion of this day.

 UPCOMING ORGAN CONCERTS AND RECITALS

2018 October Carillon and Organ Concert Series at Christ Episcopal Church, Charlottesville VA (2nd and High Streets)

Each Thursday in October, there will be a 30-minute organ concert on the 2011 Andover organ (restored E.&G.G. Hook organ originally built in 1868). The concerts are FREE and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy lunch while listening to the concert. You may bring your own lunch or box lunches will be available for sale at the door (Baggby’s: $7)
