| Susan's Soundings
Dear AGO Friends, Thank you to everyone involved in making the April 19th Hymn Festival a joyous success! Singers from many churches were blessed to join together in song under the creative direction of Dr. Al Travis. We are especially grateful to First Baptist Church for graciously hosting us, to Bruce Wilkin for his enthusiastic help, and to Jeff Elkins for his excellent conducting. All those present were privileged to be the recipients of Al's many gifts: wonderful playing, lovely music, warm spirit, wit, and especially his love of inspiring people with creative hymn singing and worship. After what had been a tragic week for our country with the Boston bombings and the fire and explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant, those present at the hymn festival were uplifted and moved. We are privileged to be bearers of this gift of music that expresses the human spirit in grief, in joy, and in all that lies between. Al included many inspiring written and spoken words in the Festival liturgy and I leave you with these: With pipes of tin and wood disclose that song the world has blurred, The hymn of life and love that flows from God's renewing word. - Thomas Troeger I look forward to seeing you at the home of Dale and Cheryl LeStourgeon on May 21st for our final gathering of the year. Susan Susan Panciera, Dean |

breve... notes from Jaime Thank you to everyone who participated in the Al Travis Hymn Festival. This event and worship service was only possible because of the many people who volunteered their time. Joel Panciera and Jeff Elkins prepared the choirs, Bruce Wilkin and Susan Panciera handled support details, and Susan Panciera, Judith Popp, and Michael Bedford graciously agreed to participate as readers. Many churches were well-represented, including First Baptist Church Tulsa, Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Fellowship Lutheran Church, St. Pius X Catholic Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, and First United Methodist Church Claremore. Thanks also to the many singers in the congregation who participated! It's time to start sending in your national dues. They are officially due August 1st, but you can check this off of your to-do list now. There is a form included in this newsletter. If you prefer, you can obtain one from Karen Rich or Fred Elder at our final program on Tuesday, May 21st. We will convene at 6:30PM for a meeting and dinner at the home of Dale and Cheryl LeStourgeon , 5109 E 106th.
