Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Southwest Florida Chapter Web Site. We are happy to welcome new AGO members at any time. Our membership of over 70 people covers a wide geographic area from Port Charlotte to Naples. We have meetings and workshops during the year that will interest all church musicians. It is not necessary to have a degree in music to be a member. Membership categories range from student voting to regular voting. You may also join as a chapter friend.

Placement

ORGANIST/ACCOMPANIST:

Organist wanted: Sanibel Congregational UCC (Sanibel, FL). Seeking organist to play for 9 and 11 AM Sunday services plus Wed. evening choir rehearsal (Nov.-April), 10 AM Sunday services (May-Oct.) plus occasional other services as needed. The organist works with the church's music director in a program of traditional music. The church has a Rodgers organ and a Baldwin piano in the sanctuary. Piano skills are desirable. Our Savior Lutheran Church in Naples is looking for an organist. The address is: 1955 Curling Avenue Naples, FL 34109 I don’t know anything about the organ but my son’s Cub Scout leader talked with me about the job. Their organist was very sick and just passed away. They are looking for someone to help out in the short term but also looking to permanently fill the job. Venice Presbyterian Church
Job Description — Associate Organist/Accompanist

Qualifications
Venice Presbyterian Church seeks a qualified musician with appropriate education and experience in several areas: organ/piano skills, hymn-playing, improvisation, presentation of solo organ literature and choral accompaniment. The individual must be comfortable with a variety of musical worship styles.

Position Description
This is a salaried part- time position, requiring 15 hours/week and a yearly salary range of $15,000. to $17,000., negotiable. The Associate Organist/Accompanist will fulfill the following responsibilities:
--serve as organist/accompanist for two Sunday morning services (9:15am & 11:00am) and other special seasonal worship services (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, Wednesday Lenten Services) as well as any other special performances held at VPC;
--accompany the regularly scheduled Wednesday evening and Sunday morning rehearsals of the Chancel Choir and various other ensembles as well as any special rehearsals for vocalists and instrumentalists;
--have first right of refusal for all weddings and funerals held at VPC requiring organ or keyboard music, with additional honorarium to be provided by the contracting parties for these services;
--report to Minister of Music, work in cooperation with pastoral staff, select music that reflects our faith community and enhances our worship life;
--consult with Minister of Music for worship planning;
--secure substitute organists when not available;

Compensation
Hours: This is a salaried part- time position requiring 15 hours/week.

Annual Salary:Compensation will be determined within AGO guidelines and commensurate with candidate’s experience and education.

Additional Information

Congregation: 1100 members with average worship attendance of 750. Average worship attendance in winter 1200.

Regular Services:Two Sunday services at 9:15am and 11:00 am +8:00am worship in winter.

Weekly Rehearsals: Wednesday evening from 7:00pm–9:30pm and Sunday morning at 8:30am–9:00am and 10:20am–10:50am.

Ensembles: Chancel Choir, Women’s Ensemble, Men’s Ensemble, Chamber Singers, Children/Youth Choir, Adult Bell Choir

Music Staff: Minister of Music/Senior Organist

Organ: The pipe organ is a tonally-revised, four-manual Moller/Reuter with Walker digital augmentation. The organ has 92 stops over six divisions.
