Message from the Dean |
| Dear Members,
Wasn't Halden Toy's recital exciting? It's wonderful to see a young man so excited about the organ and its music. It will be fun to watch his career. Our next event will be a workshop on hymn playing led by Dr. Dean Jamieson, our regional councilor. Dean lives in Shoreline, WA. The workshop will be held at Bob Bullwinkel's house on Saturday morning, May 8, beginning about 10 AM. Bob will provide coffee and goodies. Please plan to come and bring your questions about hymn playing. All of us will be able to learn something from this workshop! Since Dean is flying to southern Oregon on Friday, May 7, we have some time for a social activity with him. Would you like to join Dean and me in attending the Oregon Cabaret Theatre's production of "Whodunit, a Musical" on Friday evening at 8 PM? Tickets are $31 or $33 depending on location. If you would like to join us, would you please let me know by Friday, April 23 (mevans@mind.net or 541-482-3075)? If we would happen to get 15 people we could get a group rate. Also, would someone be able to take Dean from Bob's house to lunch and then to the airport on Saturday? If so, please let Don Black know (black0755@msn.com). We need to set dates to go on our organ crawl to Arcata, CA in June. If you are interested in going on this, please bring your calendars to Dean's workshop. We'll spend a little time after the workshop to try to sort out dates for the organ crawl. As always-----Peg Upcoming events: Music at St. Mark's presents Alexander Tutunov, pianist, on Sunday, May 2 at 3 PM, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 5th and Oakdale, Medford. This is a benefit concert for the St. Cecilia Society which supports the Music at St. Mark's concert series, and the St. Mark's Food Pantry which gives out free food every Thursday afternoon from 1 until 3 at the church. Suggested donation is $20. Dr. Tutunov will play some of his favorite pieces. A reception will follow. Siskiyou Singers: A Concert of American Song, May 14 (Grants Pass Performing Arts Center) at 8 PM, as well as May 15 at 8 PM and May 16 at 4 PM (both in the SOU Music Recital Hall). Tickets at $15 are available at the door and at the Music Coop in Medford, and may also be ordered through the Siskiyou Singers website, www.siskiyousingers.org. Music at St. Mark's presents the Fong-Rands-Stubson Trio in concert on Sunday, May 16, at 3 PM, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The concert will feature trios by Rachmaninov, Hummel, and Grieg. This concert is free and a reception will follow. |
