DON'T MISS THIS EXCELLENT WORKSHOP

"Nerves, Distractions, & the Organist"
Sacramento Chapter AGO's Workshop presented by Barry Green on November 14, 2009 10am to 3:30. Fee includes lunch.

PLAY FOR BARRY GREEN – GET PERSONAL HELP WITH HANGUPS!
Ever loose your concentration when you are playing the prelude? Ever gulp as the hard parts approach? All of us have. Are the hard parts only hard when there are people listening????

Maybe we all need to learn a new game. GAME? That’s right. The Inner Game of Music is a game and a book, too. First published in 1986, Barry Green’s book on playing the Inner Game won him instant fame as the man who helped scores of musicians deal with the hang-ups of performing. Not just a stage fright lecture – this is a new way of looking at ourselves as musicians.

COME and INVITE STUDENTS, COLLEAGUES – OPEN TO ALL MUSICIANS. On NOVEMBER 14, Sacramento Chapter brings Barry Green to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church to present 2 workshop sessions.

THIS IS AN EVENT YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO MISS
If you wish to play for Barry Green, you can call Nancy Metzger at 916-422-5168 to sign up. You only need 2 minutes! Playing 1 section of a piece will be enough for him to evaluate and assist you in learning this new game.
YOUR MUSICAL LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

Scholarship Funds needed for worthy students.
Can You Help?

Dan Nguyen is a special student. He has worked diligently to prepare himself for his dream of being an organist. He showed his stuff to our committee last month. He is a musical, disciplined and dedicated 15 year old. And, he won 20 free organ lessons to start his training.

But we’re wondering if some of you members could give extra
money to our scholarship fund for his special cause. We want Dan to have money to spend on sheet music, money to pay for gas for the lesson trips to Sacramento from Placerville, money for a Pipe Organ Encounter or money for more years of lessons before he goes to college. CAN YOU HELP? What makes his case special?

All of the students who auditioned are special, and we
awarded some type of scholarship to each of the four. However, Dan’s family has had a trauma that few families must ever face, and this event surely has brought
on emotional as well as financial distress. His sister was
murdered on the Yale University campus in September.
Checks, if you can send them, can be made out to Sacramento AGO,marked “Education Fund” and
sent to our treasurer, Gerald Perry, at 581 Jones Way,
Sacramento, 95818. Thank you for your help!

Scholarships this year were awarded thanks to the generosity of the 2009 Bachathon sponsors and the general Bachathon audience, the Sacramento chapter was able to
award 4 scholarships on September 19th.
