Message from the Dean |
| Welcome to the North Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) in California! We invite organists, choral directors, music students and organ enthusiasts who live or work north of Sacramento in the Central Valley to join our chapter. We have world class organs in our area and try to feature them whenever possible. If you are already an AGO member, we invite you to dual membership to take advantage of our programs.
The chapter sponsors workshops, organ and choral events throughout the year. See the entry below for the 2012 - 2013 season. ***** AGO MISSION STATEMENT The purpose of the America Guild of Organists is to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles, to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music, and to provide a forum for mutual support, inspiration, education, and certification of Guild members. |

| PROGRAM FOR 2012-2013, NORTH VALLEY CHAPTER AGO
The featured recitalist for this year is well-known Bay Area organist and recording artist, Angela Kraft Cross, who will present a concert on Friday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Harlen Adams Theatre. The final concert of the Bach Festival on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. will also be of interest to you since the organist hails from our own chapter, Dr. David Rothe. This program will feature music of Bach, Pergolesi, Buxtehude, Pachelbel and others. Harpsichord, violin and vocal selections will be included in this eclectic concert. Lecture-Demonstration The Organ Music of Felix Mendelssohn This workshop, sponsored by our chapter, will take place on Saturday, March 16, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Social Hall of St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Third and Salem, Chico (next to the entrance to Oggie’s Restaurant). Angela Kraft Cross will discuss the major organ works of Mendelssohn. Be sure to bring your copies for reference. After her one hour lecture in the Social Hall, the listeners will move into the sanctuary where she will play several selections on the historic T.C. Lewis organ (English, 1860-70). Admission: Free Members will have the option of going to lunch with Ms. Cross when the workshop concludes. We hope to see many of you there at these various events. http://www.schoolofthearts-csuchico.com/press/2013bachfestivalpr.shtml---Bach Festival Website. |
