Local Events

The Annual Noontime Recital Series starts on Feburary 18th and runs for six consecutive Thursdays from 12:10 -12:50 pm in churches throughout Huntsville. This is our 25th year for the series and each concert will feature a composition by J.S.Bach as part of our anniversary celebration. You may access a flyer with all recital dates and locations at:

The Huntsville Organ Festival featuring Paul Jacobs in recital takes place March 12-13, 2010.

Concert Artist Paul Jacobs performs in recital Friday evening, March 12th at 7:30 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 607 Airport Road, Huntsville. see www.hcmg.uah.edu for information. The Concert includes works by Reger,Schumann, Franck, and Reubke.


The Greater Huntsville Organ Competition Finals

First Baptist Church, 600 Governors Drive in Huntsville hosts the Greater Huntsville Organ Competition Finals on Saturday, March 13th, at 12:00 Noon.

The public is invited and welcomed to attend ! All who are seated by 11:45 a.m. will be eligible to cast their vote for their favorite performer! The audience provdes 30% of the total. Those voting must stay for the entire competition, which will start promptly at Noon and last no more than two hours. There are three finalists, each playing a program of approximately ˝ hour.

Candidates for the competition, chosen through a semi-final recorded round are all under age 25. Judges for the final competition are Dr. Jeff McClelland, of IPC, Birmingham, Dr. Michael Velting, of Christ Church Cathedral, Nashville, and Andrew Risinger, Nashville Symphony Organist. Mr. Paul Jacobs serves as moderator, and will direct all of the competition finalists in a masterclass, (also open to the public) held immediately after the competition.


Thanks to First Baptist Church, specifically Dr. Elizabeth Hostetter, for hosting this event, to the Huntsville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists for their leadership, to HCMG for sponsorship of Mr. Jacobs, and to the Milnar and Miller Organ companies for their contributions to the cash prize.

Milnar Organ Company makes a significant contribution to Huntsville Student Competition. Milnar Organ Company has announced a donation of $1000 to the March 13th Greater Huntsville AGO Chapter Competition. Thanks to Dennis, and all members of the Company!


Member Rolf Goebel performs in Germany at the historic Schlosskirche Rumpenheim in Offenbach near Frankfurt/Main, Germany, in May 2010. The instrument, a present of Herzog Adolf von Nassau, dates from 1852 and was restored in 2003-05.
