Message from the Dean

Dear Members and Friends-

September has (inevitably!) arrived and with it our new AGO and Chapter year — perhaps you've noticed that the Guild follows a calendar year that is semi-academic.
A selection of activities for the coming months has been developed by your Executive Board; all of you who are reading this are cordially invited to participate.

We hope that you (our members and friends) will feel free to suggest additional programs and activities that will further our Guild's mission:
"to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles, to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music, and to provide a forum for mutual support, inspiration, education, and certification of Guild members".

Thus we welcome your ideas and suggestions; feel free to pass them on to any of your Chapter officers [listed at the end of this webpage].

Florida AGO members are fortunate this year in having the Region IV (Southeastern States) AGO Convention "Psalms and Palms" in Sarasota January 17 - 20. Take a look at the convention website at
http://psalmsandpalms.org/
and make an effort to attend. Our own Laura Ellis is one of the performing artists and is also presenting a workshop: "New and Notable Organ Music", sponsored by our Chapter.

An Invitation: if you're not a member of our Chapter, do consider joining us. Here's the Guild's official statement about membership:

"All individuals interested in the organ and choral music fields are invited to join the American Guild of Organists. Membership is open to everyone, regardless of denominational affiliation or musical ability".

Interested? If so, please contact our Registrar/Treasurer, Carol Christiansen, at
< cvhc@gru.net> for membership information and materials.

Finally, do take a moment to look at this year's program line-up [listed under "Local Events" below], make plans to attend, and bring along some friends.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Cordially,

Gene Dunnam,
Dean
