Durham-Chapel Hill Chapter

Last updated: September 6, 2010

Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Durham-Chapel Hill Chapter of the American Guild of "The King of Instruments." The organ is such an inspirational music to hear, to watch being played, and to learn to play. Our chapter is especially welcoming those of you who have piano experience but would like to know more about how to play the organ as well as those of you who would like to learn how to play the instrument better in leading worship and in recitals. We have workshops planned to address just that question for all ages (9 to 99)--dates and times are forthcoming. You may also contact our board members individually to find out how to study this great instrument and where you could practice as well. I hope you will take advantage of our musical offerings this year, beginning with Manhattan School of Music organ professor Dr. Walter Hilse's recital on Tues., Sept. 28, 2010 (Masterclass Mon., Sept. 27, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at Binkley Baptist Church). There is a kick-off dinner being planned that evening prior to the 7:30 performance on "The king of Instruments" at University United Methodist Church on Franklin St. in downtown Chapel Hill, so please plan to join us for fellowship and great music.

Dr. Daniel Steinert, Dean
