Message from the Dean

Dear Dayton AGO Friends!

Hello to all the members of the Dayton Chapter of the AGO. I am pleased to be your new Dean.

Two facts struck me at our chapter's Organ Academy Recital on May 16. First, students are still discovering the magic of the organ. The young people who performed shared their joy in playing, in experiencing that addiction that has kept us all on the bench, practicing longer than we planned and playing more years than we ever thought we would. Youth are still "falling in love" with the king of instruments.

Second, Dayton has a fine AGO chapter. Our finances are stable in this time of financial instability, and this stability enables us to continue offering support to young organ students. The Board is loyal and capable and is now planning the programs for 2010-2011. Let a member of the board know if you have a special program idea.

I use summer to unwind, learn new music, read and travel. May your summer, also, include the glory of the organ. I'm looking forward to supporting organists in the Miami Valley. With your help, we can continue to offer the fine programs and educational opportunities which for so many decades have defined who we are.

Sincerely,

Effie Sue Kemerley, Dean
