Message from the Dean |
| Greetings!
We welcome you to our special guild events. The Peoria Chapter will host a number of events beginning with Body Mapping with Molly Sloter on September 27th, our Organ Spectacular Concert with our own Susan Klotzbach on October 19th, continuing with a concert and workshop with Brett Wolgast on November 21-22, an anniversary concert at Bloomington's Illinois Wesleyan University featuring Marilyn Keiser on March 28th and much more. We meet monthly (except for December) and look forward to hearing some exciting programs and meeting other organists to share what's going on. Please come! It's a chance to get new ideas and socialize with fellow musicians and organ enthusiasts. Dave Byrkit |

| Peoria Chapter AGO Spring Schedule (2008 - 2009)
Friday, April 24, 2009, 7:30 PM: Organ Recital Bethel Lutheran Church (200 Colona Ave., Bartonville) by Mary Ragna Yetter, Bethel’s Organist and Choir Director Preceding the concert at 6:00 PM those who wish may attend dinner at Tyroni’s Italian Café (down the block from Bethel at the corner of Adams St. and Colona Ave). Please e-mail me or call me (309 453-4663) if you wish to attend dinner at Tyroni’s so that I can give the restaurant an idea of how many we will have. Tyroni’s offers entrees in the $10 to $13 range as well as pizza. From Mary Ragna Yetter... "The celebration weekend for Bethel's 100th Anniversary is April 24 through 26. On Friday the 24th, I will be playing a "hymn festival" - not exactly like a normal "sit and listen" concert, but something that requires lots of congregational singing. Our Pilgrimage With the Lord of Life is the title of the program, beginning with the birth of Christ and continuing on through His death and resurrection. For each hymn we sing, there will be a corresponding organ piece (that just gives you a little breathing time!) I am planning selections by Bach, Buxtehude, Brahms, and more recent compositions by Paul Manz, Charles Ore, and Michael Burkhardt. The program will move swiftly because trying to get through Jesus' life in a short amount of time is challenging - a lot happened in 33 years and we have many hymns that are perfect for illustrating the journey we humans have with our savior. By the way, there are quite a few "favorites" selected. Please come! It is so fulfilling for those who get to sing with a full church and in this case, it is very necessary to have an interactive congregation. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a reception afterwards." | We now can listen to Pipe Dreams in the Peoria area! With radio broadcast now digital, WCBU has added Pipe Dreams to its broadcast schedule on WCBU-2. One must have a DIGITAL radio tuner to receive this broadcast. There are models shown on the WCBU website http://www.wcbufm.org/HDRadio.htm. (I use a Sony model XDR-F1HD digital tuner plugged into my component system amplifier, etc, and find it entirely satisfactory; it costs about $100 ordered on-line.) PIPE DREAMS is broadcast on Saturday afternoons for two full hours, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Our thanks to station manager Tom Hunt and programmer Nathan Irwin for adding "Pipe Dreams." I encourage financial support of WCBU from the A.G.O. community. "Pipe Dreams" continues to be broadcast in its 90 minute edition beginning at 10:06 p.m. Sunday nights on U of I's WILL-FM 90.9, which may be received on non-digital tuners if one resides in its broadcast signal range.
